Has a loved one been constantly giving you helpful advice and suggestions to help you to get ahead? Have you chosen to listen to your peers and those who are in the same or worse predicament than you are in instead? Or, are you that loved one who has been reaching out to help and give advice to a loved one for years, but when they finally hear that same advice you have been giving them all along from some stranger or acquaintance, it all of a sudden registers?
We all might have filled the three of these shoes at one point in time. If you are that family member who has been telling that loved one something that will help them but see that it’s going in one ear and out the other, you have to realize that the person just might not be in the “receiving” stage of their life yet. If you are that individual who has been receiving helpful suggestions from a close friend or loved one and has constantly continued to do the same thing that keeps you in the negative situation you are in, take a look at the life of the person who is continuously suggesting something to you. Is this someone who is not getting ahead in life themselves? Is it someone who is facing one dilemma after another? I’ve learned that in order to get ahead and out of the conditions that have caused me negative results, I had to put myself around or listen to those who reflected what I was aiming to become. It might have taken a stranger or acquaintance to get through to that loved one if he or she is a reflection of the advice being given and the delivery method happened to fit the way that particular person assimilates their knowledge or it could be as simple as their timing just happened to be right.
It’s not too late to consider change in order to live the prosperous life that has been created for each and every one of us. If what you’ve been doing hasn’t been working for you, don’t continue to do the same, but expect different results. Connect with those who have the success that you know you are destined to achieve.

Top 5 Qualities of Successful Business Owners and Entrepreneurs
By Ashley Porter
Anybody can start a business but it takes a person with certain personality traits to be successful as a business owner or an entrepreneur. Research by BusinessWeek.com shows that most business startups have high failure rate especially within the first year. Nobody wants to fail therefore it is important to improve the like likelihood of success by focusing on the following personality characteristics of yourself and the people you chose to do business with.
- Leadership - those who have values and qualities that others want to follow
- Motivation - those who have that inner spirit that causes action
- Perseverance - those who move forward towards a certain goal despite challenges and obstacles
- Knowledge - those with open minds who are willing to undergo continuous learning and education in a desired industry or field
- Values/Ethics - those who operate by a high set of standards and moral code of conduct
These are personality traits that, for many people, can be developed if you have strengths in leadership and values but lack in the other 3 areas, for example, personal development in weaker areas can help you become the entrepreneur that others want to align with. By developing your talents and strengths, you indirectly become more self-confident (whether you are aware of this or not) and this shows in your interactions with others.
Prevent your business from failing by:
- Be willing to develop your character as much as possible in all 5 areas before venturing into a business. By doing so, you will have a better chance at obtaining and maintaining success
- Make sure people that join you in your business venture have the same 5 traits as listed above and if they are lacking in some areas they must be willing to develop

Question: I’m a stay- at-home mom, wife and entrepreneur. I’m finding it difficult to juggle my business and other responsibilities as a mom and wife. I would like to know how do you juggle family and business?
Answer: I think this is the most popular question I get! Trust me…it wasn’t always as pleasant as it is now. I had to realize that with me being my own boss, it’s ok to set a schedule that will work for me in order to keep things running smoothly.
Bringing on an outsourcing team was a great move for me! My youngest son was also enrolled into a local daycare two days out of the week. On the other three days out of the week, I set up a schedule for him that keeps him pretty occupied while I’m in my home office working. By being home, I am able to take breaks whenever I want, run errands and spend some play time with my son as well while my outsource team works. The two days that my youngest is in daycare is when I schedule my “in person” meetings. I try my best to be done with all work no later than 5pm so that I can spend time with my family and take care of chores at home. The weekends are also times spent to take care of chores, errands and enjoy family. It’s important to have self discipline! There have been times I’ve slipped and fell behind on some things and boy, did I pay for it!!! If you find yourself having a hard time focusing on your work while your children are home during the day, you might want to consider working early in the mornings or late at night when they are sleeping. I use to put in 3 hours of work in the mornings and another 3-5 hours in the evenings when they were sleeping so that I could spend time with them in the daytime. If you are outsourcing with a Virtual Assistant, you can have them to answer your calls and emails for you while you play or take care of other responsibilities! Also, when you check your emails in the wee hours, you can select an option for the time you would like for the email to actually go out so that the receiver can’t tell that you actually sent the mail at 1am in the morning. With the technology and resources out there today, there is so much flexibility for any entrepreneur!
